Around the time I developed an interest in cooking, I bought a “game” for my Nintendo DS called America’s Test Kitchen: Let’s Get Cooking. Along with numerous recipes, it also gives you tips on how to spot the best quality ingredients and how to properly prepare certain ingredients. After thoroughly reading pretty much everything on this little program, I decided I would try out one of the recipes.
As you can guess by the title of this note, that recipe was for Scrambled Eggs. You might be thinking, “Oh, but it’s scrambled eggs. You can never go wrong with scrambled eggs.”
Turns out, the recipe America’s Test Kitchen gave me really was awesome. But not only did it give directions for optimal taste, it also gave directions for the fluffiest eggs you can imagine. Here’s how I do it:
I use two eggs for each serving. In a small bowl or custard cup, I crack two eggs, add half a spoonful (or slightly more) of salt, half a spoonful of pepper, and a splash of milk. I mix them up in the bowl while adding a tab of butter into a heating pan. Not only does the butter grease up the pan to keep eggs from sticking, it adds a yummy flavour. After the butter has been sufficiently spread in the pan (I tilt the pan for the butter to slide around), I pour the egg/salt/milk/pepper mixture into the pan. Using a rubber scraper, I fold the eggs. Note: Stirring breaks up the eggs into small chunks, folding allows for light, fluffy curds. Continue folding until the eggs are moist, but not soggy. Then they are ready to eat!
Now, I believe that the recipe and directions were only partially responsible for my awesome scrambled eggs. The amazingness of these eggs can only be explained for a bit of my own awesomness being mixed in accidentally. Now, you may assume, “Sure, maybe they are good, but how good can scrambled eggs really be?”
Let me put it this way. I can no longer eat scrambled eggs made by anyone else. These eggs can make an agnostic believe in God. I can confidently say, that these eggs are probably the greatest scrambled eggs ever. If you feel that this is a challenge, Ill take your challenge.
Try out this method of making scrambled eggs for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
